Business Model
Sinclair Pharma enters the healthcare product cycle
after the initial high-risk research phase. The company focuses
on acquiring innovative products that are late in the development
cycle, have intellectual property (IP) protection, or can be IP
protected. Sinclair targets products that are undervalued, and applies
regulatory expertise to gain registration for these products so
that their commercial potential can be unlocked.
The products are then commercialised in two ways:
 |
Sinclair has its specialist sales and marketing
operations in selected major territories and selected therapeutic
areas. There are now sales and marketing operations in the UK
(Ashbourne Pharmaceuticals Ltd), Italy (Sinclair
Srl), and France, Spain and Portugal (CSDermatologie).
|
 |
Sinclair has built up a network of reputable
marketing partners that spans 82
countries. Strong sales growth has been seen through working
closely with these companies, and this network is still expanding. |

Sales and marketing
The first
territory in which Sinclair has established its own direct sales
and marketing operation was Italy, where Sinclair acquired the company
Euroderm in 2005. This name has now been changed to Sinclair
Srl, and the company is already enjoying good sales with a wide
range of products. Atopiclair,
its first product from the Sinclair pipeline, was launched in September
2005.
In March
2006, Sinclair acquired CS Dermatologie, one of France's most successful
dermatology companies. CSDermatologie sells a range of prescription,
over the counter and dermo-cosmetic products in France, Spain and
Portugal. While part of the Sinclair group, products are sold
under the established brand name CS Dermatologie.
In September
2006, Sinclair acquired Ashnourne Pharmaceuticals Ltd, a UK-based
sales and marketing company that specialises in targeting dispensing
doctors. Ashbourne has a reputable salesforce in the UK.
Sinclair is planning to expand
its own sales and marketing operations in the remaining major EU
territories and the US. In this way, the company can access the
higher margins of the sales and marketing end of the business and
have a closer control of its brands in the major pharmaceutical
markets. |
